I vaguely remember watching the movie when I was little (and being utterly terrified). I always wanted to read the book (but was probably too scared) and I am so glad I finally got around to it.

This was such a fantastic read. This was one of those books that when you are reading it, you inhale every page and when you aren’t reading it, you just think about the next time you can seek in a few more chapters.

It was suspenseful and creative and smart. I loved Mrs. Frisby’s character. She is a strong, independent widow who is very brave and capable.

Also, I loved the whole NIMH backstory and was actually able to appreciate it now that I’m older. (I can’t believe it took me this long to realize NIMH is an acronym).

Awesome story that you won’t be able to put down. Not as dark as the movie (from what I remember). Not a violent book, which is good for younger readers, but a bit dark with allusions to death.

I highly recommend this book.
