A fantastic collection of poetry. Absolutely stunning.

Powerful words and a wonderful variety of poems. Watson pulls from her own life experiences to highlight issues of race, gender, and class in America. The collection covers topics such as growing up, hair, violence against Black people, family, community, love, influential Black women, and so much more. I really enjoyed the various styles of poetry used, from free verse to tanka, haiku, pantoum, and etheree.

Vibrant and captivating visuals. The poems are paired with breathtaking collage artwork, evoking joy, reflection, movement, and life.

Such a beautiful book. Uplifting, heartbreaking, powerful, and wonderful.
