A fantastic picture book biography with beautiful themes of being true to yourself and working for a better world for all. This powerful story shows how Sarah McBride was able to follow her dreams, overcome fear, and live authentically.
Wonderfully told. Great emphasis on McBride always knowing her true identity and her ability to overcome her fear of others not accepting or understanding it.
Lovely artwork. I absolutely adored the spread of McBride coming out as trans and finally living as her true self. Gorgeous visual representation of gender euphoria and acceptance.
I am so glad this book exists. I absolutely love the narrative showing how McBride was able to overcome her fear. While the backmatter notes some of the hardships McBride faced, the story focuses on how much happier she is living as herself. A great way of encouraging others to be their authentic selves.
The backmatter includes an inspiring note from Sara McBride, McBride’s life after the events in the book, an Author’s Note on Pincus’ inspiration and intentions for the book, a list of ways cis people can support trans people, a glossary of terms related to government and politics, and a selected bibliography.
A great biography with inspiring messages to live as yourself, fight for change, and get involved in your community.
