Humorous, fantastical, and filled with magic.
Isabella Nagg lives a normal, boring life on a little farm, cooking, cleaning, and (barley) tolerating her husband. But when Mr. Nagg brings home a stollen spell book, Isabella’s life becomes anything but ordinary. With the help of a catlike companion, Isabella navigates the magical world while dealing with a business-minded villain, navigating an unexpected reunion with someone from her past, and diligently getting her husband out of trouble.
A delightful adventure. Fantastically written.
I loved the strange world Darkshire created of fugus goblins, talking plants, mystical creatures, magic spells, and walking corpses.
I also never realized how much I enjoy fiction with footnotes. They add a whole other layer to the story, which worked very well in this instance.
The plot itself kind of lost me a bit by the end, but overall it was very entertaining.
A fun read filled with adventure, magic, humor, and unexpected turns.
