A sweet story about being yourself. Pete likes many different things, wearing different clothes, and playing with different children. This confuses some people who try to put labels of “boy” or “girl” on Pete, but with parental support, Pete shows the confidence to just be Pete.
Nice focus on the flexibility of gender identity and how it can change day-to-day. I love how Pete’s parents provide love and support, encouraging Pete to be Pete, whatever that means in the moment.
Loved the illustrations. Soft, colorful, and imaginative. They are gorgeous.
A beautiful story about love, friendship, and the joy of being yourself.
