Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers

4 stars

The crayons in Duncan’s crayon box raise their concerns in a series of letters in this imaginative epistolary adventure.

A fun story with plenty of humor and a wonderful ending that encourages creativity and thinking outside the (crayon) box. Includes nice themes of voicing your concerns, listening to others, and compromising.

Nicely written. Loved how the different crayons’ personalities came through. I also liked that Duncan listened to what the crayons said and his creative thinking to find a solution to their issues.

The crayon artwork was great. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the handwritten letters.

A fun read and a great introduction to epistolary stories (which I love).
