A heartwarming story about a little house finding her place.
There once was a little house on a hill in the country. From her perch she watched day become night and night become day. She watched the seasons change and the world go by. But over time, the world around her changed. There are more roads and buildings and she soon finds herself squished in a loud, bustling city. She longs for the quietness of the countryside she once knew. And after a chance encounter with a very special someone, she just might get her wish.
This is an adorable story. Lovely, simple narration with wonderful themes of the joy of nature and slowing down to enjoy the world around you.
The artwork is simply wonderful. I love how the majority of the page spreads center on the little house and watching the world change around her.
The note at the back from Burton’s son, Aris Bemetrois, for the 75th anniversary edition was incredibly sweet. The audio download included was also very fun and includes music, sound effects, and voice changes.
A fantastic read with lovely artwork and an unforgettable story.
