A nice introduction to what it means to be in foster care. The book is mostly directed to those who are not in foster care, encouraging them to not make assumptions, listen, and be mindful about the questions they ask.
The book goes through what foster care is, the emotions someone may feel while in foster care, assumptions people make, and ways to be more sympathetic, kind, and understanding to those in the foster care system.
I liked the Brauer shared his own experiences in foster care to highlight the false assumptions people make and counteract them.
I really enjoyed the constellation visuals that pair with the text.
A nice read for learning more about the current foster care system. Loved the messages of the importance of your story, not making assumptions, and kindness.
