Based on the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast movie, this manga follows Belle’s perspective, providing her stream of consciousness as she rescues her father, befriends the castle’s inhabitants, and slowly falls in love with the Beast.
A good adaptation. I would say you should watch the movie first because some of the transitions are abrupt and it’s helpful to already know the story.
The artwork was fine. I love that there was a different color palette between this and Disney Manga: Beauty and the Beast – The Beast’s Tale, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the blurry quality of this one. Some of the layouts are lovely but others just look blurry and unfocused. I do like the color palette overall though and it suits Belle.
I did find the layout confusing at times. While it claims to follow the Japanese manga style of moving from right to left, there were multiple panels that went from left to right. The mixing of the two styes made for a few confusing scenes.
Okay read overall. A faithful adaptation with a lovely color palette. Works well for fans of the live action film.
