Watch the Heeler family’s games come to life in this new chapter book series.
Join Bluey and her family in a game of Trains (adapted from the Season 2 episode “Trains”). Dr. Glenda (Bingo) takes the train everyday to drop off her daughter at day care and go to her vet practice. But when a very annoying passenger on the train causes all sorts of mischief, her normal routine takes a disastrous turn.
A silly little story with plenty of humor. Children are sure to enjoy the Heeler’s shenanigans. Also has some great moments adults will appreciate, like Dr. Glenda getting herself and her daughter ready for the day in only twenty minutes.
Cute illustrations which pair well with the text. Features a brief appearance from fan favorites, Rita and Marge.
Personally, though the story is just the family playing, I wasn’t a fan of the animals getting eaten by the polar bear. This played better on screen where it’s very clear they’re all toys. The play becoming real in the book series made the scene a bit off-putting.
Also, the book is based on the original episode, so American viewers who have watched the Disney+ version may encounter some unexpected details. This version includes the original line of Bluey’s ticket being a “piece of poo” instead of the Disney version where the ticket is a slug.
A humorous read overall, nicely narrated. I love the idea of expanding Bluey’s adventures into a chapter book format.
