A wonderfully cozy read.
Rumor has it that the hippo ride at Hinode Park has magical powers. Rub a body part on Kabahiko the healing hippo and it will heal the same part on you. Follow various neighbors as they seek Kabahiko’s healing powers, only to discover what they needed may have been in front of them all along.
I really enjoy the genre of interconnected story in which people heal and overcome their trauma and insecurities. This one was so sweet and I love getting a peak into the lives of the various characters.
I really enjoyed the neighbors coming together and working through their issues. The book has a quiet, reflective air to it as the characters work on their relationships, build confidence, reconnect with their identity, and confront aging and illness.
A lovely read. Heartfelt and well-crafted, soothing and sweet.
