This is such a weirdly intriguing comic. The characters are very unique (skeleton butler with an interesting backstory), the plot is so confusing yet riveting, and the artwork is crazy; all of which make for a page-turning adventure of chaos and fun.

There is so much going on in this book, which can get a little hectic at times as you follow Kate as she tries to figure out her family’s secrets while staying alive. This book is so out there, but in a good way. It can get a little overwhelming at times, but still makes for a fascinating read. The flashbacks are well done and the changes in art style make it easy to follow the timelines. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, some of which you don’t really know much about, but enough is revealed to keep things interesting.

While I liked most of the artwork, it goes get very bloody and violent fairly often. It doesn’t appeal to me personally, but the story is interesting enough for me to stick with this series. Lots of explosions, blood, and death presented in a cartoon-ish fashion.

Definitely a book worth checking out. I am looking forward to reading volume 2.
