It feels slightly odd reviewing this audiobook as it isn’t quite a traditional audiobook. Prelutsky’s poems are set to music complete with a banjo, mandolin, saw, percussion, fiddle, slide trumpet, guitar, bass, keyboard, and kazoo. This makes the it feel more like a music CD than a book, but provides a wonderful listening experience none the less.

Even days after finishing it, I still find myself singing the songs.

Also, full disclosure, I love listening to people play the saw, so the fact it was included on multiple tracks really put this over the top for me. The songs include fun voices and catchy music which add nicely to the silly lyrics.

While all the poems aren’t included in this edition, it is a fun listen. These silly songs are a great way to keep children engaged with poetry.
