A deliciously sweet story for a sweet new year. Every year, Ren hopes she can finally help make pineapple cakes for Lunar New Year. Will this be her year?
A delightful story with wonderfully warm illustrations. Nice scenes of togetherness and moments of sharing and teaching. The book as a whole focuses on the foods the family has to celebrate, also noting the lanterns and fireworks as well as the importance of sharing time with one another.
Includes a recipe for making pineapple cakes as well as a list of other books for celebrating Lunar New Year with Chinese and Taiwanese recipes.
Warm and sweet. A nice read to start the new year.
