Bubblegum and Marceline are two of my favorite characters from the show. So when I saw there was a graphic novel about pirates stealing something from Princess Bubblegum’s chamber and her asking Marceline to retrieve it, I was all in.
Some of the books in the Adventure Time comics/graphic novel universe are hit or miss for me, but this one was great. A fun, engaging story, hilarious and adorable jokes and shenanigans, adventure, oddity, lovely artwork, and the always-amazing BMO all come together to make this one spot on.
Really enjoyed Williams’ take on the universe and characters and how Sterling stuck closely to the original character designs but also created a whole new world of villains, monsters, and details with his own style. A great spin off that feels true to the show while still adding something new to the universe.
