As with the other books, the artwork is absolutely fantastic. Such beautiful and imaginative creations on every page. I love it!
This volume didn’t sit as well with me as the previous ones though. I think it was getting more into Max’s backstory and the lazy way of motivating his character.

An female elf character is introduced solely so she can be killed off in a violent way to set Max on his destructive vendetta.
END SPOILER
I hate when this troupe is used and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. The rest of the book was fine, but that small detail wasn’t a great start to the book for me.
Still, I enjoyed the book overall and am looking forward to reading the next one.
