A stunning picture book with a heartfelt message and beautiful artwork. Finn is in a bad mood. When Grandpa suggests going for a walk, Finn reluctantly agrees. Along the way, Grandpa shares a wonderful message of remembering what’s beneath, both in one’s surroundings and within other people.

Though the story may appear simple at first, it is wonderfully multilayered. A great gentle read for discussing big emotions, empathy, and a deeper understanding of those around you. Loved the quilt details on the front and back endpapers.

The book itself also comes with a reminder to remember what’s beneath. Be sure to check under the book jacket.

A beautiful display of human connection, the complexity of people, and the bond between a child and their grandparents.
