A sweet mix-up adventure.
Little Sal and her mother go to Blueberry Hill to gather berries to can for the winter. Little Bear and his mother go to eat their fill of blueberries for winter. The families get separated and reunite, but there is a bit of a mix-up. A sweet low-stakes story.
I remember not being interested in this book as a kid because I thought the single-color illustrations looked boring. Not sure if I ever actually read it all the way through. Now I quite enjoyed the artwork, including the navy blue and white color palette. Nice expressions and I really enjoyed the landscape spreads.
The story itself is lovely. Slow paced and a little silly with an enjoyable mix-up.
A wonderful story. I definitely see why this is such a classic.
