A gorgeous graphic novel that features two adventures for the price of one. Preet has powerful magic that she uses to help the village. Valissa is the librarian who guards the village’s history, stories, and traditions. But when an unexpected danger arrives, the two must part ways and embark on their own journeys of self-discovery. Will they find each other again? And if they do, will they still like what they see?

The artwork in this book is fantastic. Each page is such a treat. I especially enjoyed the scenes told entirely through visuals as they allowed the reader to really dive into the world.

There are also some really cool magical elements and traditions such as the villagers being born from seeds, the rituals when a villager dies, and the powers of the Shapers and Shifters.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. There were times the events didn’t come through clearly to me, but it was still a fantastic journey. The story deals with many fantastic themes such as questioning outdated traditions, accepting change, and embracing history while making your own.

A beautiful book with a powerful magic all its own.
