A fun story that takes readers to the ocean depths to learn about life under the sea. After getting an F on a paper, Danny does some field research with the help of his best friend, Wendell, and his cousin, Edward. Together, they explore the Sargasso Sea, search for treasure in a sunken ship, and come face-to-face with ocean predators.
Interesting story overall. Blends humor and adventure with real marine animal facts. The book consists of a nice mix of text, speech bubbles, and black-white-and-green illustrations.
Danny and Wendell’s friendship is pretty one-sided with Wendell just having to go along with whatever Danny does, even when it puts him in danger. Characters are pretty flat but there’s some fun humor.
Overall, it was a pretty good read. Not my favorite but I can see it being appealing to younger readers.
