Gonna keep this one short and sweet because I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this book.
What an incredible read! Even with its short length, Polk packs an entire world into this book. They really made every word count and I loved every moment of it. A fantastic noir with warlocks, angels, and demons along for the ride.
Helen wants to make the most of her time on earth. She’s sold her soul and the clock is ticking. The last thing she wants is to risk it all to track down a killer. But when her client adds an unexpected payment to the mix, Helen sees a chance to spend her life with the woman she loves. Will she be able to live the life she desires or will the killer find her first?
This is so different from my usual read and my first noir as far as I remember. This was a fun introduction to the genre as I’m much more of a fantasy person. This book was absolutely beautiful. A lovely mix of romance, suspense, mystery, and magic.
I really enjoyed the world this took place in. The writing is absolutely breathtaking. It was a little hard for me to get into at first because the reader is dropped into things from the get-go. But the unique blend of elements, sweet romance, and fast-paced adventure was well worth it.
Highly recommend.
