The mirror in the basement is not all it seems. After knocking on the mirror three times, Abby and her brother, Jonah, are transported into a fairy tale realm. While trying to help a young girl, they realize they’ve changed the ending of her story. Now they must set things right and find a way to get back home.

Fun concept. Okay read. For me, I just couldn’t connect with the narration. It prevented me from connecting with the characters. I can see why the book is popular for its intended age group. As an adult, I found Abby annoying. Her narration was so grating and repetitive.

The twists on the Snow White fairly tale were fun. I especially like that Mlynowski included a mix of different versions, referencing the original as well as the Disney version.

Not really my cup of tea, but is still popular with its intended age group. May try another one at some point, maybe one of the later books.
