While this one didn’t really have a mystery to it, I really enjoyed this Ghostwriter adventure. When a new principal takes over, the students at Hurston Middle School are surprised to learn a dress code is being implemented. Lenni does not agree with the vague guidelines and she and her friends decide to do something about it.

Loved the emphasis on voicing your opinion and standing up for what you believe. The Ghostwriter team works together, using their different skills to express their concerns to the adults around them. I also love that there were some supportive adults who actually listened to them and encouraged them to do something about what they saw as unfair standards.

After each chapter is a writing exercise with different activities such as coming up with rhyming words, using onomatopoeias, and narrowing down a topic. Nice inclusion of advice and activities, which make the book even more engaging.

A fun Ghostwriter adventure with great messages about activism and ways young people can make their voices heard.
