As the Halloween season approaches, I finally found time to read this delightfully wicked collection from Fantasia Divinity. Featuring a variety of talented authors, the book is split into two sections: the spooky, creepy, at times disturbing Halloween Frights, and the calmer, soothing, but sometimes still spooky Autumn Delights.

The book contains over 130 drabbles, each precisely 100 words. Great for short bursts of reading and getting some reading time into a busy schedule. A perfect short read to get into the Halloween spirit.

As the first section outweighs the second quite substantially, I found many of my favorites in the collection came from Halloween Frights. Here are a few of the ones that struck me the most in order of appearance.

Halloween Frights:
– “The Masks We Wear” by G. Allen Wilbanks
– “Follow Me” by A.R. Dean
– “Tight Security” by Kelly Matsuura
– “Haunted” by Randee Dawn
– “Don’t Ask” Andra Dill
– “Jack” Jacek Wilkos
– “The Effigy” J.A. Skelton

Autumn Delights:
– “Little Pocket of Autumn” by Rhiannon Bird
– “The Season Turns” R. C. Capasso
– “Whispers of Autumn” Sammi Cox

This collection also features 7 of my drabbles (5 in Halloween Frights and 2 in Autumn Delights):
– “When the Sun Goes Down”
– “An Annual Parade”
– “Take One”
– “The Fairy and the Knight”
– “A Night for Retaliation”
– “Harvesting the Moon”
– “Autumn Dwindles”
