Another fantastic volume in the Heartstopper series. This one is heavier than the previous volumes. While the others tend to be sweet with a hint of hardship, this one really focuses on the hardships of life and relationships. It deals with some serious topics including mental health, specifically eating disorders and references to self harm.

One of my favorite parts of the book was its message that a significant other doesn’t have to “fix” the person they love. They should be there for them, support them, and help in the little ways they can. But, as Nick’s mom so beautifully puts it, “Sometimes people need more support than just one person can give.” It’s also so wonderful and refreshing to see families support their kids. Shout out to Nick’s mom for being such an angel.

As always, Oseman’s artwork was spot-on. Especially in this volume where the characters go through some pretty hard emotions, her art perfectly captures how they feel. She gets across so much wordlessly. Absolutely brilliant.

Honestly, I don’t really like romance and tend to dislike stories where everyone gets paired up, but all of the relationships in this series are so adorable. I’m always rooting for them to be happy. It makes my cynical little heart open a little.

Such a sweet series. Cannot wait for the next book. A bit sad to see it ending, but I know Oseman is going to knock it out of the park.
