A wonderful celebration of Black men as role models, from entertainment to law, activism to sports. The narrator finds inspiration through different famous men, which inspires him to take an active role in his community.
Told through lyrical text and a powerful refrain, this book celebrates both contemporary and historical figures from Ralph Ellison to Tupac to Chadwick Boseman.
The artwork is amazing. Each page is absolutely breathtaking. I loved how each man in incorporated in the scene. Also provides great examples of how kids can help others such as picking up litter and volunteering at a soup kitchen. Beautiful positivity and a visual celebration of each man’s legacy.
At the back are short blurbs about each of the men included as well as notes from both the author and the illustrator.
Definitely also recommend listening to the audiobook.
