Illustrated by Erika Rodriguez Medina

5 stars

A wonderfully sweet and empowering book, celebrating bodies and what they can do.

The illustrations are beautiful. Loved the soft lines and diversity of characters. The artwork contains people with different skin tones, sizes, hair textures, and heights. There are characters that wear glasses, use wheelchairs, wear hijab, have stretch marks, use hearing aids, wear pagri, have vitiligo, use crutches, and wear headphones.

I loved the emphasis on what your body does rather than what it looks like. The text discussing the frustration experienced when your body doesn’t do what you want it to, but having patience with it and recognizing what it can do.

A wonderful book to encourage feeling at home in your body, accepting its imperfections, and celebrating all it can do and its continuing journey of learning and growth.
