So excited to read a book in the I Survived series that follows a girl main character!

In general, this one follows the same trajectory as the previous books. Most of the book sets the stage and information is given about the time period. Then the disaster hits and we see part of the main character’s recovery process.

As far as subject matter, this one was interesting. Really enjoyed the emphasis on the company being at fault and the safety precautions that became standard after this disaster. The story also deals with the hardships of immigrating to a new country and the Spanish Influenza.

The book also contains additional information at the end about the Great Molasses Flood and cleanup efforts, company accountability and the legal case against USIA, uses for molasses, WWI, Spanish Influenza, and life in 1919, including women gaining more rights in America.

Overall, another good title in the I Survived series. Looking forward to more girl leads in the series.
