Loved the idea of this but the execution didn’t work for me.

In a world where giant monsters reign, Rainbow sets out to reunite with her family, starting with her younger sister, Jonna.

An okay start to a series. Nice artwork that doesn’t rely too heavily on the dialogue. There’s a nice balance between the visuals and the text.

My problem with the book was that everything went so fast. There wasn’t much development. The readers is rushed abruptly from the sisters being separated to Rainbow looking for Jonna to Rainbow finding Jonna. There isn’t much explanation and the setting, scenes, and characters aren’t given a chance to develop before the next big event happens. May work okay for younger readers looking for a fast-paced story.

At the back are a few activity pages including coloring sheets of the characters and a maze. A nice added detail.

I’m intrigued by the world presented in this series, but frustrated by the lack of development and explanation. This volume ends quite abruptly, leading straight into the next one.
