A heartwarming story of a girl, her grandmother, and their pet parrot. This was such a sweet book.
At first, when Mia’s grandmother moves in, they have a hard time understanding each other. Mia doesn’t know much Spanish and her grandmother doesn’t know much English. But together, they teach each other the language and learn from one another. And when Mia sees a parrot in the window of the pet shop, she knows what will help Abuela even more.
Absolutely adorable. I love how Mia and her grandmother learn together and how their bond grows.
The illustrations are lovely and perfectly showcase the family’s connection.
Such a touching read. A feelgood story that demonstrates overcoming a language barrier to form genuine connections and learning new things. I really enjoyed this one.
