A sweet book with a loose basis around the story of Snow White. I’ve watched the first season of the anime and wanted to give the manga a try.

Shirayuki is well-known for her rare red hair, but when it gains her some unwanted attention, she flees her home and escapes into the woods. There, she meets Zen and his friends, Kiki and Mitsuhide. Her pursuers won’t give up so easily, but Zen has a few surprises of his own.

A fun story. I love how knowledgeable, capable, and determined Shirayuki is. She chooses her path and sticks to it. In this volume, we see Shirayuki go up against those who try to put her down, but she always gets back up.

Beautiful artwork. A splendid cast of characters. Slow-burn with a fast-paced plot. Nice blend of romance and adventure.

The first 4 episodes of the anime cover the events of this 4-chapter volume.

This volume also includes the one-shot story, “Colorful Seasons of August”, which was adorable, blurbs about some of the characters featured, and a short bonus comic.

A nice read overall. Will definitely continue the series.
