by Huda Fahmy

5 stars

A sweet, humorous story about Fahmy’s journey though the pressure to get married, incompatible suitors, and finally meeting her husband.

The story goes through various rules of Islam related to interpersonal relationships and some of the innerworkings of arranged marriages. It offers a first-hand, positive experience with arranged marriage, corrects misconceptions, and differentiates arranged marriage from forced marriage.

As always, the illustrations are engaging, humorous, and cute. At the start of the book, there is a note about hijab and when Fahmy wears it in real life versus in her comics, and a glossary of terms.

A fun, hilarious, adorable read of love, tradition, faith, qadr (destiny), and personal choice. Another wonderful book from Fahmy.
