I was instantly pulled into this book. Partly because of how much I enjoyed the show, but it was easy to get caught up in the story and Quinn’s world. The Bridgerton family and their drama was a nice escape from the real world and overall this was a very entertaining read (or listen, as the case may be).

Personally, I’m not much of a romance person. I could have done without the sex scenes and such, but was still swept up in the drama of Quinn’s retelling of the world.

I did listen to this audiobook after already watching the show, so my enjoyment of the book may have been a bit skewed. I couldn’t help picturing the talented cast of the show when listening to this book. I think there were things the show handled better, but overall this book was entertaining.

Still, as much as I liked this book, that infamous scene between Daphne and Simon mars my enjoyment of it as a whole. If you know, you know. Even after the resolution, that scene still stuck with me. It raises some interesting points about consent, but I don’t think it was handled very well in the book. Because of that, I had to go down a star rating.

Overall, a good read. Good fit for those who enjoy romance, tension, and drama. Would have been much stronger without the biased handling of consent. It is what it is, but it definitely hurt the book in my opinion.
