A frightened ghost swept away from his family, a “solid” (aka non-ghost person) who can see ghosts, and a library that has a few mysteries.

This was a delightful read. It started off a bit dark with Kaz being blown away from his family. But it ends on a hopeful note and sets up the rest of the series nicely as Kaz and Claire team up to solve ghost mysteries and track down his family.

The illustrations are also adorable. They added nicely to the text and helped break up the book.

From an adult perspective it was unclear how a ghost family ended up in an old schoolhouse. In this universe, are ghosts dead people or can they somehow reproduce? Based on the fact Kaz knows nothing of the living world, some version of the later is suggested. Definitely overthinking it but kind of wanted a bit of context for the dynamics of the ghost world. I did enjoy the various powers ghosts have in the series, including the ability to shrink, pass through objects (and people), and glow so solids can see them.

Very fun start to a series. Definitely looking forward to reading the next book.
