Jaw-droppingly beautiful. A stunning, heartwarming story about family, love, and acceptance. This book was a pleasure to read. As soon as I finished, I wanted to pick it back up and do it all over again.
I find when I really love a book, my review tends to be short. This is one of those times. I don’t know what else to say but that this was beautiful both in art and in story. The story itself is so touching. The characters really want to understand each other and themselves. I loved joining them on their journeys.
Nguyen’s artwork is phenomenal. The amount of detail is just amazing. The notes at the end are worth a read to get a little more context and understanding into the inspiration for the art. It is gorgeous to look at and packed with meaning. The use of fairy tales as a common basis to understanding one another was so wonderful. Despite the hardships the characters experience, there is so much joy and love in these pages. Just stunning. A new favorite.
