An adorable introduction to the world of mushrooms. Gravel shares her experiences going mushroom hunting with her family. She is very clear that she is not an expert and that the book is meant to share an interest in mushrooms. The book includes information on the parts of a mushroom, a few best practices, various mushroom facts, and details about interesting mushrooms. Also includes directions for creating a spore print.

The book includes a good general rule to not eat mushrooms you find and that only informed grown-ups should determine which are safe to eat.

The information was interesting and well-presented. The only issue that I took with the book was the section on the False Morel. It states that the false morel is hollow inside. One of the main ways to tell a morel from a false morel is that a true morel is actually hollow, not the false morel. A little confused on this description.

Overall, this was a fun read. I really enjoyed the illustrations. The anthropomorphized mushrooms are absolutely adorable.
