A sweet story showcasing the joy of two rabbits spending time together.
The text is simple and sweet with soothing repetition and soft illustrations.
I do feel that parts of the book were a bit dated. The marriage plotline felt odd to me to be honest because we never really see the rabbits as anything more than friends. They just want to stay together forever so they get married. Also the idea of the possessive wish to be “all mine” was a little creepy to me.
While the book came off as very simple and a little dated, I do appreciate the story’s historical context of interracial marriage.
A happy sweet little story. While I don’t think it will have much appeal to many modern young readers, its banning and place within the historical context is interesting.
