Illustrated by Lane Smith

I read this book so many times growing up. It was definitely one of my favorites. I remember being equally horrified and entranced by it. It is probably the book that fostered my lifelong love of fairy tale retellings, specifically stories told from the “villain’s” point of view.
Such a fun story. Humorously presented.
Possibly a little intense for sensitive readers who don’t like the idea of animals eating each other. But does nicely showcase the importance of perspective.
Fun, dark artwork that perfectly matches the tone of the story.
Still a favorite of mine.
