Twins Alex and Conner are having a hard time adjusting to life after the death of their father. When their grandmother gives Alex her book of fairy tales, the siblings are transported inside into the Land of Stories. Now the two must search for the items of the Wishing Spell to get home. Along the way, they meet well-known fairy tale characters, solve riddles, and learn more about the Land of Stories and their family’s unexpected connection to it.
A fun story overall. This series is still pretty popular at the library I work at and I finally found time to read it. The writing is fairly mediocre, but the story is interesting. This works well as a children’s series. I can definitely see why this is so popular.
The twists and turns are predictable, but it was still an enjoyable read.
Great for fans of fairy tales, retellings, and general fantasy.
I listened to the audiobook and it’s always more fun when an author reads their own work. Colfer did well overall and gave each character their own voice.
