A sweet new story, perfect for revisiting Tiana, Naveen, and all their friends in New Orleans. Tiana’s in-laws are joining them for the Mardi Gras celebration. Wanting everything to be just right, Tiana sets out to obtain a special ingredient to make the perfect dessert, a king-and-queen cake. Things don’t go quite to plan, but along the way, Tiana’s learns about an even better special ingredient: love.
Wonderfully written, with sweet touches of humor. The story nicely works in themes of perfectionism and trying your best. The text also includes fun French words and phrases like “je ne said quoi”, “voilà”, and “fêted”.
Gorgeous illustrations. I really enjoyed the details and humor woven into the artwork. Beautiful use of color and the art style perfectly captures the characters.
A nice, feel-good read showing that joy, love, and family are more important than perfection.
