Grabs those dead pens and add a splash of color to your decor.

Before you start, figure out what style you want. I chose a full slanted vase as well as this airier design. The basic steps are the same. If doing a full cover, you’ll need cardboard or thick paper to attach the pens to if you’re not adhering them to the container itself. I like this method because it allows for removal if you want to switch things up later.
Full vase option

Supplies:

  • a bunch of dead pens
  • whatever container you’re putting in the vase for size
  • hot glue gun and hot glue
  • scissors
  • cardboard/thick paper
  • tape
  • paint and paintbrush (optional)
1. Wrap the cardboard/paper loosely around the container for sizing. Leave enough space so the container can be removed and slipped back in.
2. Secure with tape or glue in place. NOTE: don’t go overboard if using packing tape because hot glue is not a fan of adhering to it. If needed, you can add small pieces of paper/cardboard over the tape to give the glue something to attach to.
3. Pick your design (horizontal, vertical, slanted, whatever) and start attaching the pens with hot glue.
4. Once you’re satisfied, decide if you’re leaving it as is or giving it a layer of paint. I used acrylic for mine.
