The Eckharts join the hunting tournament on the palace grounds. Not to be left behind, Penelope heads off into the small-game area only to lose her way and come face-to-face with a dangerous foe. An unexpected acquaintance comes to her aid, but there is far more in store for the unlikely pair in the forest beyond wild game.
A fast-paced continuation of the story. There are some great twists and turns in this one.
Eckles doesn’t make an appearance so the slave narrative doesn’t play a huge role in this part of the story, which I did not mind. I’m squeamish with animal violence so I didn’t love the whole hunting storyline.
We see a lot more of Callisto in this volume and it was interesting to learn more about him. The dynamic between the two was fascinating.
Gorgeous artwork as always.
Overall, an interesting continuation of Penelope’s attempts to stay alive in hard more.
