Illustrated by Lorraine Nam

5 stars

A fantastic story about accepting your mistakes, working hard, and finding joy in doing what you love.

A nice message that winning isn’t everything. The story doesn’t deny that winning feels good. But the emphasis is on doing what you love, trying your best, and making yourself proud.

The pictures are stunning. Nam’s artwork perfectly captured the magical movements of figure skating and the weightlessness of various jumps.

Chen’s author note at the back was beautiful. He describes his own experience of focusing too much on winning at the expense of enjoying what he loves.

Such a great read with an essential message, especially for those partaking in sports and other competitive activities.
