A new favorite from Katherine Applegate!
I loved this story. A beautiful representation of how plants and animals coexist and form mutually beneficial relationships. It show demonstrates human intervention can unintendedly alter that balance with unintended consequences.
A blend of eco-mystery and coming of age with a touch of magic. Works in themes of friendship, finding your voice, standing up for others, testing hypotheses, working together, grief, and pushing your own boundaries while still being mindful of your comfort level.
Throughout the story are fantastic illustrations from Charles Santoso, which beautifully bring the characters and setting to life.
A truly remarkable read. My favorite from Applegate so far.
