Absolutely adorable. This was such a sweet story.
The book shows different ways people greet each other, both vocal and nonverbal. This includes smiles, nods, sign language, hugs, waves, handshakes, and AAC.
The writing is rhythmic and simple, which makes it easy for young readers to understand.
I really appreciated the message that people are all different so the ways they communicate are different as well. The character greets different people differently depending on the situation. I also love that she accepts how others say hello without judgement and respects their boundaries while affirming her own.
Lovely illustrations that match the accepting tone of the book with diverse characters and a soothing color palette.
At the back is a Reader’s Note for grownups with information about different communication styles, suggested activities for developing communication skills, and information about personal space.
A wonderful book that is engaging, soothing, and informative.
