3 stars This is a hard one for me to rate. There were things I liked and things I didn’t like. I didn’t know anything about this book going into it. I have seen the cover and heard the title in various bookish escapades, but never read the summary. I saw a copy of the…

2 stars Not really my kind of poetry. I am always on the lookout for new poetry books. I found this in the Little Free Lending Library and was intrigued by Morrison’s reconfiguring the use of telegraphic phrases (each line ends with “stop”, “please”, or “advise”). After reading the first page, I had a pretty…

2 stars This is a nice, happy read. It’s not very well-developed plot-wise, but it’s a nice, simple story with an easy happy ending. Not necessarily a realistic story, but hey, it’s Barbie, so whatever. An okay read.

4 stars A cute story about a picky duck and his helpful friends. The best part of the book is the illustrations. I love all of the colors and details. The writing starts off with a very soothing flow, but that flow isn’t consistent throughout the book. It is still a nice read though. A…

3 stars This is the first book I have read by Patton Oswalt. Overall a pretty good book. The book reads like part-memoir, part-stand up comedy. Sometimes it works better than at others, but for the most part it’s a funny book. It’s a bit disjointed and sporadic, but it works. There are weird sections…

4 stars This is a great adventure story. I loved the silliness and excitement of the plot. The characters are fairly simple, but it works for young readers. I did like Emma’s character. It’s a quick read, but a lot of fun. Great descriptions. Also, the audiobook is read by Cornelia Funke, which makes listening…

3 stars This is a great non-fiction book for young readers. I think it is easy for the reader to connect and relate to. This book focuses mostly on Wilbur and Orville Wright’s childhood and young adulthood. The authors bring up many relatable topics such as toys, school, and friends. The book is very easy…

5 stars This was an amazingly phenomenal book. I couldn’t remember if I had read this growing up or not. I distinctly remember the movie, but I don’t think I ever read the actual book. So I picked up a copy of the audiobook from the library to listen to while driving for work. This…

2 stars This book was okay. I found it in the Little Free Lending Library, was drawn in by the interesting cover and cool diary-like book design, and figured, “Worth a shot”. At first I thought it was a work of fiction as many “diary” books directed to young girls are. Then I actually read…

3 stars It’s a pretty simple story with cute characters. I really liked the labeled tractor diagrams on the inside covers of the book (it’s the reason I picked it up from the Little Free Lending Library in the first place). A nice book, especially for fans of vehicles and tractors.
