When you find holes and rips in your clothing, it’s tempting to throw them back in the closet or stow them away in a drawer and forget about them (or worse, throw them away!). But just because they are worn out, doesn’t mean they can’t be fixed. Here are a few simple ways to mend your clothing with basic sewing skills. If your clothing is beyond repair, think about using them for scrap fabric for other projects, a stuffing substitute, or cleaning rags. There are tons of uses for old clothes!

Sometimes you just don’t have the time to mend clothing. I get it, you’ve got a lot going on in your life. One way I’ve found that works for me is to put any clothing that needs mending in a box. When the box starts to get full or I have some extra time (usually when I’m watching TV), I do some mending. I find it easiest to mend in batches unless it is a specific item I want to wear soon (or my husband needs elbow patches on another work sweater).
