I haven’t actually seen the Ask the Storybots show in its entirety, but one of the kids I work with enjoys “A Beautiful, Beautiful World (The Earth Song)”, so when I saw this book at the library, I had to get it.
Very cute rhyming text that is simple, but gets some basic facts across. This is a Step 1 book for preschool to kindergarten readers. It uses big font and easy words for beginning readers and rhyme and rhythm to aid in reading.
I think the fact that this is basically a beginner non-fiction read that is fun and interesting is a great feat. The fun colors and illustrations hook the reader so it works well as an introduction to non-fiction. Growing up, I hated non-fiction books so it is always refreshing to see a fun non-fiction series for young readers.
I read this with the kid I work with and he enjoyed it. He beamed when he saw the sun character (his favorite part of the song).
Overall, a good book that gives some basic information about Earth for beginning readers. Especially good for kids who are interested in the solar system.
