Another fantastic volume. In this one we get the epic conclusion of “Millionaire of the Dead”, a visit to a Gion teahouse to visit the maiko, and the start of Bea’s Bucket List item, “Be a Shikoku pilgrim”.
I enjoyed the variety of adventures in this one. It’s been cool to see how much of Japan Akira and the crew have traveled through and I liked learning about the geisha and teahouses in this volume.
The pilgrimage section was really interesting. Bea gives a bit of history about Kukai and the pilgrimage to the 88 temples, the significance of the items involved, and the meaning behind the different rituals.
Artwork is great as always. Nice to have a break from the fan service.
The last chapter sets up the next volume with a new difficulty for the group to contend with. Looking forward to the next adventure.
