3 stars   I am all about the puns in this series (Rags 2 Ostriches, Owllister, PeckSun, Starbeaks). Hilarious. This is a good follow up to Night of the Living Worms. It has the same style, incorporating funny illustrations with block text and speech bubbles for a non-intimidating setup for young readers. I was a little…

3 stars This book is pretty similar in style to the first volume of the series. It consists of four friendship stories featuring various characters in the My Little Pony universe. In this one, each story includes one (or more) of the Mane Six (Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, and Rarity) as well…

4 stars An adorable picture book for superhero lovers of all ages. So cute! With appearances from many Marvel favorites including Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, Spiderman, and Black Panther, this is a great bedtime story for superhero fans. It has a soothing rhyme scheme, hilarious pictures, and of course, Rocket Raccoon. Very entertaining and…

3 stars A very funny picture book that is sure to delight Captain Underpants fans. In this second book about Wedgieman, there is an actual villain (Bad Dude), making it much more interesting than the first book in the series. I read the third book ( Wedgieman and the Big Bunny Trouble) first and was a…

2 stars Not going to sugarcoat it, this book was boring. I read Wedgieman and the Big Bunny Trouble a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. It was humorous and entertaining. This origin story, however, was incredibly dull. Even for a Step 3 book, it seemed really long and unnecessarily wordy. Nothing funny happens besides the children…

4 stars Great, just what I needed, a new graphic novel obsession. This book is wonderful! I read a preview of the Giant Days series in one of the Lumberjanes books and was intrigued. I checked this book out from the library and now I’m already hunting Amazon for a copy. The characters are so…

4 stars Another exciting, action-packed book in the Cleopatra in Space series. The journey continues as, piece by piece, Cleo learns more and more about the mysterious prophecy and how she fits into it. I feel like there was less dialogue in this book and more fight scenes, but the story still progressed well and…

This book of essays captures a range of emotions from happiness and hilarity to sadness and anger. Retta covers many topics from celebrity encounters, her love…

4 stars A very cute and silly graphic novel for young readers. This is a great book for introducing young readers to the graphic novel format. The pictures also make it more fun and less intimidating for kids reading on their own. Plus, the illustrations are adorable. Narwhal’s characters is instantly lovable. With an affinity…
